Answers

Q: How many RadioEyes do I need for Stagetracker FX to work properly?

A: One.

Q: Do I need to spend hours calibrating Stagetracker FX before I can use it?

A: No. No calibration is necessary.

Q: I am thinking of using Stagetracker FX on a touring production and set-up time wil be an issue. How long does it take to get up and running with Stagetracker FX?

A: About five minutes, using Automatic Mode.

Q: Does Stagetracker FX software run on Mac?

A: Yes.

Q: Do I need any specialist training to use the Stagetracker FX in PbP mode?

A: No. V4 has been specifically developed for fast, automated set-up and to be intuitive to use.

Q: The V4 Tracking Engine seems to be running really slowly. What can I do?

A: By default, the V4 Tracking Engine uses Anti Aliasing for a smoother on-screen visual experience. If your computer does not support AA the software will slow down noticably. In such cases, disable AA in the Appearance menu..
Note - this slowdown only affects graphic performance, it has no effect on the actual tracking performance.

Q: I have seen shows using similar systems before and the audio appeared to jump awkwardly around the stage. Is this the case with Stagetracker FX?

A: No. This "audio jumping" is often a side effect of using defined zones exclusively for audio localisation. Although the V4 Tracking Engine still supports zone setups, zones are no longer the primary audio localisation method.
Audio movement in V4 is as smooth as a normal console panpot.

Q: Can I buy a Stagetracker FX 8 system and then buy extra Tags in order to track ten or twelve actors?

A: No. A Stagetracker FX system can only allocate Tags for the same number of actors as the system number. If you need to track more than eight actors you will need a Stagetracker FX 16/32 system.

Q: If I buy a Stagetracker FX 8 or FX 16 system now, can I upgrade it to a larger format in the future?

A: Yes. All Stagetracker FX systems are upgradable to a larger format. Upgrade kits are available for this purpose.

Q: If I buy a Stagetracker FX system now with only one RadioEye, can I upgrade to an FXR system with two or more RadioEyes if I need to in the future?

A: Yes. XR upgrade packs are available to current Stagetracker FX users.

Q: Do I need to change my speaker system in order to use Stagetracker FX?

A: No. Stagetracker FX offers operating modes to suit almost any speaker type and configuration. The only real requirement is that every seat in the house is covered adequately by the speaker system.

Q: My theatre uses a dedicated speaker processor to time-align and EQ the speaker system. Will I be able to use Stagetracker FX effectively with such a processor?

A: Yes.

Q: How big an area can I track using Stagetracker FX?

A: Using an FXR system with multiple RadioEyes, you can cover an area up to the size of a football pitch.

Q: Can I use Stagetracker FX outdoors?

A: Yes. The RadioEye and Tags are weatherproof.

Q: What happens if an actor loses a Tag?

A: Replacement Tags are available in packets of four.

Q: Can I set Stagetracker FX to mute an actors microphone when they leave the stage area?

A: Yes. Using the V4 Tracking Engine, it is a simple matter to allocate any area of the stage as a "mute zone". However, care should be taken when creating such zones in order to avoid undesired effects.

Q: Which audio formats are supported by the Effects Engine?

A: Wav, AIFF, MP3.
